Oliver Jack has been coming to Palm Tree for nine years and his number one bucket list wish has always been to catch a 150lb+ Siamese carp. He returned in May for an eight day session to continue his quest and on day four he caught the ‘Friendly Mekong’ and thought that would be his big fish for the day. Well that was until a couple of hours later when he hooked into another big fish and this time he knew it was a big carp. Little did he realise until winning the battle around 40 minutes later it would turn out to be the world’s biggest carp weighing in at 245lb. The success didn’t stop there as he went on to land his first ever Chinese bighead carp as well as pb catla and wallago attu, and another Siamese carp over the 150lb mark namely ‘The Warrior’. He also caught a plethora of other species that included black shark minnow, tambaqui, alligator gar, both amazon and Asian redtail and much more…
