74 year old Cliff Selby an angling fanatic travelled to Palm Tree Lagoon in order to catch any species over a 100lb. Well that he managed in spades not only landing a number of 100lb plus Mekong catfish but catching a fish that dreams are made of in the form of a 467lb arapaima joining the exclusive Palm Tree 400lb Arapaima Club in the process. Not stopping there he also went onto catch a number of other stunning species such as Juliens golden price carp, Siamese carp, tambaqui, mrigal, striped catfish, rohu, as well as both Amazon and Asian redtail.
 
Pavel Marych came to Palm Tree with one main goal in mind to catch a monster Mekong catfish and that he did with a stunning 360lb specimen joining the Palm Tree BIG Catfish Club in the process. Jim Harris came to Palm Tree Lagoon to test and made a promotional film about the capability of the New John Wilson Monster Tamer rods combined with the new range of Fin Norr reels, to catch the huge fish that reside in Thailand. The ultimate test of any fishing equipment is to see how it handles the mighty Mekong catfish. Well this test was passed with flying colours as Jim not only landed a monster 330lber but on the very same day also caught an even bigger 400lb Mekong catfish both after 2-3 hour gruelling battles. The fish that was top of his wish list was the legendary arapaima and on the last day this wish came true as he caught a stunning fish that was just under the 300lb mark. In addition to these wonderful catches he also landed a rare small scale mud carp as well as striped catfish, black ear catfish, Siamese carp, chao phraya catfish, some stunning juliens golden price carp, as well as both Asian and Amazon redtails.
 
David Watmough and Tim headed off for the wilds and majestic beauty of Khao Laem dam chasing wallago attu and giant snakehead. Even though the wallago could be seen regularly topping in the swim they could not be tempted into taking a bait. On the other hand the giant snakehead did come out to play with a number of good sized ones being caught along with yellow catfish and a couple of eyespot barb.
 
The infamous story teller Uncle Terry Eustace was back and had a great session the highlight of which was smashing his Mekong catfish pb with a hard fighting 330lber that took over four hours to land, and qualified him for the Palm Tree Lagoon BIG Catfish club. He also beat his Juliens golden price carp pb twice in a single day a more than awesome achievement. As well as these great captures he also landed wallago attu, rohu, crystal eyed catfish, Siamese carp, alligator gar and much more...
 
Dean Turner returned and was all smiles as he caught a number of great catches over a wide variety of different species. The pick of these would be the stunning Chinese black carp, some superb Juliens golden price carp the difficult to catch ripsaw catfish, a rare elephant ear gourami and an awesome albino chao phraya. In addition he also caught a myriad of other species that included tambaqui, arapaima, Siamese carp, yellow catfish, vundu catfish, chao phraya catfish, rohu, Mekong catfish, mollycot, as well as both Asian and Amazon catfish and more...
 
Mr fishing himself the legendary John Wilson was back testing out his new line of Masterline 'Monster Tamer' rods. He certainly gave them a good workout catching some awesome Juliens golden price carp and Chinese bighead carp, as well as Mekong catfish, alligator gar, Siamese carp and Thai redtailed cartfish.

Giovanni Michaelis was back and his goal was to catch the Siamese carp and Juliens golden price carp that eluded him on his session earlier in the year. Scottish angling enthusiasts Derek Ewing and his fishing pal David were back for another session. The pick of their catches was the hard to catch wallago leeri and some good sized Juliens golden price carp. They also caught Siamese carp to a 100lb+, vundu catfish and crystal eyed catfish both new species for them, Mekong catfish, Amazon redtail and more...
 
Ashley Rogers seemed to enjoy every moment of his session that culminated in the capture of a Palm Tree Lagoon 300lb Catfish Club qualifying Mekong that tipped the scales at 330lb. He was also well pleased with the two good sized arapaima he caught. As well as these exceptional catches he also landed rohu, Siamese carp, a difficult to catch mad barb, tambaqui, alligator gar, striped catfish, mollycot, wallago attu, catfish shark, a rare crystal eyed catfish, as well as both Thai and Amazon redtail.
 
Craig Rogers was another first time visitor that had a great session topped off by joining the ever expanding Palm Tree Lagoon BIG Catfish Club with a 330lb Mekong that proved a bit of a handful to hold up for the photo. In addition to this he caught a number of other great catches like wallago attu, Juliens golden price carp, rohu, striped catfish, catfish shark, black shark minnow, yellow catfish, as well as both Asian and Amazon redtail.
 
David Silk a Thailand regular came to Palm Tree in the hope of catching some different species and tat he did catching Chinese black carp, Chinese bighead carp, Juliens golden price carp, as well as Mekong catfish and Amazon redtail.
 
Warren, Lloyd and Steven Tack had a great session catching some awesome alligator gar as well as Siamese carp, some cracking Juliens golden price carp, rohu, wallago attu, black shark minnow, striped catfish as well as both Amazon and Thai redtail.
 
Donald McMillan was back again catching some impressive Juliens golden price carp, and Amazon redtail.
 
Gavin and Anne Hope returned and had a great session catching a number wonderful fish such as Mekong catfish, mrigal and black shark minnow both new species for him,  as well as a number of both Amazon and Thai redtail.
 
Ian McIntyre enjoyed his first visit, catching some nice fish like Siamese carp, Mekong catfish, black shark minnow, mrigal, striped catfish, Juliens golden price carp, catfish shark, chao phraya catfish and Amazon redtail.
 
Irek sent another group of anglers over from Poland through Fish Siam and they successfully caught some great fish that included a rare Salween rita catfish, Juliens golden price carp, Siamese carp, tambaqui, mollycot, pacu, Mekong catfish and striped catfish.
 
Keith Hand was another angler who returned to Palm Tree during the month catching rohu, Siamese carp, striped catfish as well as both Asian and Amazon redtail.
 
Kevin Saines from Jarvis-Walker was over making a promotional film about the new John Wilson Monster Tamer rods, and had a dabble himself catching Siamese carp, Juliens golden price carp and Amazon redtail.
 
Lewis Muraski and his fishing mate who reside in Bangkok caught a stunning albino chaoo phraya as well as Juliens golden price carp, Thai redtail, Siamese carp and rohu.
 
Tap from Bangkok Fishing Guide Services came down with a customer who successfully caught a number of different species that included an awesome Juliens golden price carp, arapaima, alligator gar, rohu, suckermouth catfish, giant gourami, black shark minnow and Siamese carp.
 
Tim McIntyre also caught some nice fish on his first visit that included pacu, Siamese carp, a stunning black shark minnow, and Amazon redtail.
 
David Watmough returned and had a day on Palm Tree before departing for some wild fishing up at Khao Laem Dam. He managed to break his Juliens golden price carp pb as well as catching a number of Amazon redtails.
 
Daniel Hopgood was well pleased with his catches of Mekong catfish, Siamese carp, chao phraya catfish and Amazon redtail.
 
Christopher Scotson was another new comer to Palm Tree and was happy with his catches of Mekong catfish, Siamese carp, striped catfish and Amazon redtail.
 
Andy Sheldrum returned after a five year absence and caught a variety of different species such as black shark minnow, parapatinga, crystal eyed catfish, mrigal, striped catfish, wallago attu and Thai redtailed catfish.
 
Matty the cameraman for Jarvis-Walker who normally only gets to film other fishing actually managed to get some fishing in for himself for once and was well happy with his catches of alligator gar, Siamese carp, wallago attu and striped catfish.
 
Ray Marston made his first trip to Palm Tree during the month and successfully caught Juliens golden price carp and black shark minnow both new species for him, a pb Mekong catfish as well as Siamese carp, striped catfish and Asian redtail.
 
Ian Charles Watson visited us for the first time in a while and was all smiles breaking both his Mekong catfish and striped catfish pb's as well as catching Amazon redtail and Siamese carp.
 
Japanese angling enthusiast Shiraishi Yutaka was pleased with his catches of Siamese carp and black shark minnow.
 
A passing angler dropped in for a half day session and was happy with his catches of Amazon and Asian redtails.
